The Kabir Khan directed movie has not only been breaking box office records, but it has also proved to be a movie which has portrayed Salman Khan in a new facet. With all the legal troubles surrounding the actor, Salman Khan has been in the news since the start of the year for all the wrong reasons. This article looks at the various characters he has played and how ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has just consolidated his position in the industry.

Salman Khan Was Underrated For So Many Years
Despite his long list of successful movies from ‘Wanted’ (2009) to ‘Kick’ (2014), as an actor he has been much underrated. It could have been because his real life personality is very strong which overshadows his own reel characters played in his movies. ‘Tere Naam’ (2003) and ‘Dabangg’ (2010) are the only two recent movies, where his characters Radhey and Chulbul Pandey have got him lots of appreciation from masses and critics for his acting performances. Apart from these, the roles played in Sooraj Barjatya’s films have been accepted with love and affection.

Working With The Right Filmmakers
Good roles and films will increase business at the box office. He had seen success in romantic films, family dramas, comedies and also action films. But he was missing an emotional character from his list of films. We saw him doing emotional characters partially in films like ‘Veergati’ (1995), ‘Tere Naam’ (2003), ‘Phir Milenge’ (2004) and ‘Kyon Ki…’ (2005). The performances in those films were really good but the audience had not accepted him in these roles. Out of these, only ‘Tere Naam’ was a great success at the box office. The second half of the film was really emotional.

Reinvention Phase
After more than 25 years in this industry, Salman Khan has acted in varied films and has got bumper success at every genre. He would be the only actor to have a blockbuster at most genres of films. He is yet to try more genres like a thriller and a horror movie. A couple of negative roles as well, will make his acting journey complete.

Awards
During the last five years, he has got most awards only for his role of Chulbul Pandey for ‘Dabangg’ and it is expected that ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ will bring him more awards next year. There is real doubt that we will have a better film than this for the year. The films like ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, ‘Dilwale’, ‘Tamasha’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ may do well at box office but this year may belong to ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, although it is very much a wait-and-see situation in Bollywood. Some film remains forever with the audience because there is some emotional connection with them.

The Bajrangi Bhaijaan Effect
‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has shown the best performance from Salman Khan in his career. His character of Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi will go as one of the iconic characters in Indian Cinema. Salman Khan has underplayed himself and has got into the skin of the character. Since its release, it has been accepted with lots of love from masses and critics and everybody has loved the journey of Pavan and Munni in the film. The emotional side of the 49 year old actor in this film was loved by everyone in India and overseas. Full credit goes to Kabir Khan, who has earlier worked together in ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012). He has extracted one of the finest performances from Salman Khan.

Although the actor has touched the hearts of his audience with his style of entertainment over the years, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ will be his pinnacle film of his career and his portrayal of Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi is his most remembered role to date. The journey of Pavan and Munni has been such a beautiful pleasure and one’s eyes will become moist during the climax of the film. It brings two countries India and Pakistan, who have been sworn enemies much closer. This is the best film to date on the relationship between two countries. Post ‘Bajraangi Bhaijaan’, the expectations will be higher from Salman Khan.
