Hate Story 3 Trailer Review

The trend of making erotic thrillers with known faces started almost a decade back. Vishesh Films used (or overused) this formula and churned out many thrillers filled with steamy scenes, most of which had no relevance to the plot of the film. While some films missed the mark at the box office, there were many, which turned out to be money spinners encouraging many filmmakers to combine these two elements (sex and thrill) to narrate a story.

‘Hate Story’, produced by Vikram Bhatt and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, was a decent success at the box office. Vikram played mentor to Vishal Pandya (who had earlier directed ‘Three – Love, Lies And Betrayal’ for Vikram’s production house) and gave him the responsibility to direct the second part based on a script written by him.

‘Hate Story 2’, produced by T-Series, turned out to be a profitable venture as well. A little more than a year after ‘Hate Story 2’ released, comes ‘Hate Story 3’. Now, the third part can be considered to be an upgrade of sorts because of two reasons. First, it features some well known faces (the star cast of the earlier two films was relatively low key) and second, the erotic content (if one goes by the promo) has gone up several notches higher. The film, like the last two films in the series, promises to be a tale of lies, deceit and revenge. The trailer depicts the tension brewing between the four lead players (Sharman Joshi, Karan Singh Grover, Zarine Khan and Daisy Shah) interspersed with several love making scenes. While Karan made his debut earlier this year with ‘Alone’, which was a horror film with a hint of erotic content thrown in, seeing actors like Sharman, Zarine and Daisy getting into this zone for the first time would be interesting.

The trailer seems to have struck a chord with its target audience which should translate into good numbers at the box office when the film releases and may turn out to be another success story in the Hate Story series.
