Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming family dramedy (read comedy plus drama) ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ boasts of an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah. Zoya Akhtar is known for her critically acclaimed offbeat yet commercial cinema; as a result there was a lot of hype going around for quite some time.
Does the trailer lives up to the high expectations one has from this star studded affair? Well, only up to a certain extent! The plot is crystal clear that it revolves around love stories, a failed marriage and a dysfunctional family.
Add to that a 30th marriage anniversary celebration on a cruise trip of Turkey and Greece. It does sound sensational and the locations are lavishly eccentric but the trailer has nothing exciting going for it, nothing out of the blue and extraordinary that makes one craves for the movie to hit the big screen and watch it first day, first show.
Neverthless, it has ‘HIT’ written all over it due to the treatment and style that Zoya Akhtar instils in her movies, the way each and every character is crafted and lastly, the music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy which is going to be the highlight of the film. Overall, it would make up for a good popcorn munching cinema.
