Ek Villain Returns Music Review

The psychological action thriller ‘Ek Villain Returns’ has a decent soundtrack though the music doesn’t do justice to the intentions of the protagonists. Composed by Ankit Tiwari, Tanishk Bagchi and Kaushik-Guddu, the lyrics are penned by Manoj Muntashir, Kunaal Vermaa, Tanishk Bagchi and Prince Dubey.

The album opens with “Galliyan Returns” which is recreated from the track “Galliyan” from the 2014 film ‘Ek Villain’ sung by Ankit Tiwari and written by ManojMuntashir. Ankit’s soulful voice tries to pull the song as much as he can but the upbeat music and high bass take away the very essence of the song.

The next track is “Dil” sung by Shreya Ghoshal and penned by Kunaal Vermaa. The use of violin in the track sets the mood of the song. This is a love anthem and is extremely melodious.

“Shaamat” marks the singing debut of Tara Sutaria who has sung the song along with Ankit Tiwari. The song is full of love with a tinge of melancholy. Tara has sung wonderfully and Ankit as usual is full of magic. The music goes very well with the screenplay that’s carefree and amazingly simple.

“Na Tere Bin” is the last track of the album sung by Altamash Faridi. This is the best song of the album that has been beautifully arranged by Tanishk Bagchi with great use of flute and guitar along with dholak and tabla. This song is beautifully presented and sung. One gets all the vibes from this song which can definitely be heard on loop.

Overall the tracks are good but the music somehow overshadows the voice of the singers. The screenplay of the songs is also highly appropriate.
