‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ is the upcoming movie of Anushka Sharma based on the life of Jhulan Goswami. She is making a comeback in films after last being featured in Aanand L. Rai’s ‘Zero’ (2018). She will be playing the role of the former Indian women’s team captain Jhulan Goswami. The movie is directed by Prosit Roy and will be produced under the banner of A Clean Slate Films.

She dropped the teaser of this sports drama on her social media handle yesterday. It received a mixed reaction from the negligence and her fans. While some commented that it’s worth the wait and showed excitement to watch the upcoming biopic, some did not appreciate her Bengali accent and look at all.

In the teaser, an empty stadium is seen when the women’s team comes down to the ground to play a match. The team is seen sewing the jerseys of the men’s cricket team with their own names because apparently, they haven’t got jerseys with their own names in them. Anushka says in Bengali “Kintu chinta koro na”(But you don’t worry) because they will rock it. Her Bengali accent is slammed by netizens as cringe and horrible. Fans also said that a Bengali actress would have done more justice to the role who is dark in complexion and of a similar height to that of Jhulan Goswami.

In spite of all the backlash, the upcoming film will be an eye-opener for people who have taken women’s cricket for granted. The teaser has a quote saying, “If Cricket is a religion, why are men the only gods?”. The movie will be released on Netflix and the release date isn’t finalized as of now.
