“Broken Nest is based on the relationship between Amol and Charulata” – Rahul Bagga

Four years after being seen on ‘Kismat’, produced by YRF television, Rahul Bagga makes a comeback to television with Anurag Basu’s ‘Broken Nest’, an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s Nastanirh.

“Amol, the character I play, is an orphan who visits his cousin’s place. He is studying law but is more inclined towards music. His cousin asks him to teach music to his wife. The story is based on the relationship between Amol and his sister-in-law Charulata (Amrita Puri). The love they share is very pure and platonic. There is a kind of spiritual connection between them. Of course, the society does not approve of this relationship”, says Rahul who was last seen in the social satire ‘Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho’.

When asked how similar this character is to the one written by Rabindranath Tagore, he replies, “The character is the same as written by Tagore. The only difference is that in the novel, this man is an aspiring writer whereas in the show, I play someone who is interested in music. I think the two characters bonding over music would have be more appealing visually. There are four songs featuring Amrita and me.”

‘Broken Nest – Stories By Rabindranath Tagore’ premieres on August 3, 2015 at 10pm on The EPIC Channel (India).
