In a surge rarely seen at the box office, ‘Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran’, an ode to India’s unsung heroes who came together despite all odds to make India a nuclear superpower, has grown nearly 60% on Day 2 of its release. Striking a chord with one and all, the film has clocked Rs. 7.64 Cr on Day 2 and bringing its total to Rs. 12.46 Cr at the Indian box office.

Despite a truncated promotional campaign and an IPL semi-final on its release day, the film got off to a great start collecting Rs. 4.82 crores on its opening day (higher than some of the other recent releases).

And while the trade pundits had expected a good growth for the film, the film has surpassed all predictions with its spectacular growth. Clearly it has reached its audience, especially the masses, riding very strong word of mouth publicity.

According to Vashu Bhagnani, whose Pooja Entertainment is the All India Distributor of the film, “Parmanu’s solid performance at the box office and reviews is a classic example of acceptance of content across centres. After clocking a good opening number on Day 1, a near 60% jump on Day 2 is a rarity we have seen for any films in recent times. We at Pooja Entertainment are proud to be releasing it across India.”

Producer and lead actor John Abraham said,”While Parmanu’s opening day at the box office validated our conviction to celebrate the unsung heroes who made India a global superpower in 1998, the film’s stupendous growth on Day 2 has convinced us even more that this true-life human story was waiting to be told. Nothing makes me happier than the fact that despite all odds my production house, JA Entertainment and our partners stood by each other and ensured that we take this story to every proud Indian. I’m so grateful to our audience for accepting our labour of love.”

‘Parmanu’ is a true-life human story of the kind of intensity not seen often. It salutes the efforts of the Indian Army, scientists, bureaucrats, intelligence agencies and others who worked so tirelessly against all odds to ensure that India finds its due place in the World Nuclear Map. What we hope that the audience takes home is not just the experience of a pacy and edgy plotline but also a sense of pride for our country and its twin pillars of strength – Jai Jawan Jai Vigyan!
