Malaal, produced by Bhansali Productions, T-Series and Mahaveer Jain and introducing young promising stars Meezaan and Sharmin Segal is certainly one of the most awaited films of this year.

While the film releases this Friday, there were special screenings held for Bollywood celebrities who couldn’t stop raving about Meezaan and Sharmin’s impeccable debut performance and their affable on-screen chemistry. Needless to say, the soulful and melodious music only adds magic to the film.

From veteran artists like Javed Akhtar and Asha Parekh to youth icons like Bhumi Pednekar, Malaal seems to have touched the hearts of everyone.

Here’s what they had to say:

Javed Akhtar: Very, very effective film. It really stirred me. The way it is written and shot it’s brilliant. Both Sharmin and Meezaan were very good.

Shabana Azmi: Both Sharmin and Meezaan have done a very good job. You cannot say that this is their first movie. My best wishes to them.

Bhumi Pednekar: Congratulations Sharmin and Meezaan. I really enjoyed the film, you were fantastic. The confidence, brilliance and the love you both portrayed in the film… is a winner. All the best.

Asha Parekh: I loved the film. Both the debutantes -Sharmin Segal and Meezaan have done really well. All the best to them.

Poonam Dhillon: It was amazing and as a pair of them (Meezaan and Sharmin Segal) were really fresh. They were not your typical hero and heroine, which we expect to see these days. They are so real and the kind of roles they are portraying is great. I love the music and the atmosphere in which the film was set. Without giving spoilers, the film had a beautiful and unusual ending. Good luck to Sharmin and Meezaan, both of you have done great job.

Mukesh Bhatt: There was so much of love and every department of the film, especially the young pair, and the chemistry between them was magical. The industry should be very happy because this film has given birth to a new star cast. I wish them the very best from the bottom of my heart. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing young yearning talent coming into this industry to sell a beautiful dream.
