Bharat Goel and Nikhita Gandhi’s Kamli is not to be missed

Music producer and composer Bharat Goel, has produced, mixed and mastered many hits in Bollywood. Songs such as “Dekhte Dekhte” from ‘Bati Gul Meter Chalu’ (2018), “Sajan Bade Senti” from ‘Badhaai Ho’ (2018), “Cutie Pie” from ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016), “Kukdookoo” fronm ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (2015), “Dilli Wali Girlfriend” from ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ (2013), “Titli Dubstep Version” from ‘Chennai Express’ (2013) have been appreciated by everyone. His music video “Hun Nahin Jeena” released last year also gained a lot of popularity.

“Kamli” is his latest collaboration with Nikhita Gandhi. Written by Anurag-Deepak, it was recorded in just three days at Nikhita’s place during lockdown. The song tells the story of a girl in awe of a boy, who she secretly admires. Mesmerised, almost in a trance, she longs for the day he becomes her lover.

Bharat is very elated about the track and when asked about how it was conceived, he says, “Kamli” is the story of secret admiration based in modern times. I have always had a very keen interest in dance music composition and production. The song needed a contemporary vocal texture along with precision-based performance. Nikhita has phenomenal control over her notes as well as the apt texture to match the track. While it sounds phenomenal as a dance record with cutting-edge dance music production, it sounds equally pleasing if one was to just hum it with a simple guitar, which is why I believe it will appeal to a wide variety of audience across all age groups and demographics.”

Mainly known for the title track of ‘Raabta’ (2017), along with Arijit Singh, Nikhita Gandhi’s vocals are very suited for such types of songs. “Poster Lagwa Do” from ‘Luka Chuppi’ (2019) was a rage and Nikhita became more popular. When asked about “Kamli”, she says, “When Bharat approached me with this song, I was immediately intrigued. I was excited about being part of such a commercially viable song through an Indie release. I even told Bharat jokingly that, ‘Bro, pitch this to a film, they will love to feature this.’ But his bold and awesome attitude to release this as a single, and own this genre was what made it really exciting to come on board. We need more artistes like Bharat who proudly release such awesome work! Looking forward to all of you hearing this track.”

“Kamli” boasts of great production values and makes it an easy listen.
