Anil Kapoor discloses that Kapil Sharma, Jaideep Ahlawat and Pankaj Tripathi were shortlisted for 24

Versatile actor Anil Kapoor, who has captivated viewers for decades with his brilliant performances in Bollywood. He is renowned for his acting and commitment to the industry. With the Hindi remake of the British TV series ‘The Night Manager’ (2016), the seasoned actor recently started a thrilling journey. During an interview at IIFA 2023, Anil Kapoor recalled his time spent watching the American TV show ‘24’ (2001). He revealed that before he agreed to star in the Hindi adaptation ‘24’ (2013), a few other actors were under consideration, including Kapil Sharma and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Anil Kapoor said, “I was quite surprised to see there were so many actors, who are today doing so well. Kapil Sharma was one of the people who was considered for 24. There was Jaideep Ahlawat. I was seeing his pictures. I was seeing Pankaj Tripathi’s pictures”.

“I also met with Ratna Pathak Shah and I mentioned that I, too, went to the audition. All of us have come a long way”, Kapoor continued.

He added that because the country had not yet seen the effects of the digital revolution, terms like the writer’s room or seasons were unfamiliar at the time. The actor stated with a smirk, “At least I can say, in India, we were ahead of the curve.”

Anil Kapoor was questioned about whether a show like ’24’ would have been more popular today given the prevalence of experimental content during the interview. The actor, however, rejected the notion and said, “Whether they embrace it or not, they do have a lot of respect for the show. Additionally, ’24’ added the sector a huge number of technicians. All of them have had successful careers. It resembled a position for the sector.”
