It’s been six months since the jury from Virginia court had proved her guilty and ordered Amber Heard to pay $10 million to ex-husband Johnny Depp after losing the $50 million defamation lawsuit in June. It was the most talked about controversy in 2022, which still makes headlines and if any news comes out.

In these six months, several news about Amber Heard have been reported that she has appealed against the defamation, or she sold her luxurious California house to pay Depp, or she has become so broke that she has to shop from discount market, etc., but no official announcement was made about her final settlement of the $10 million.

Finally just few days ago, Heard officially announced the settlement news on her Instagram, where she also explained about her sufferings and hardship she faced because of this divorce. She expressed in her post that it’s a very “difficult decision” for her to settle the case, although she said that this settlement was not her choice.

Amber wrote, “After a great deal of deliberation I have made a very difficult decision to settle the defamation case brought against me by my ex-husband in Virginia. It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed.”

While sharing her misery, the ‘Aquaman’ (2018) actress also called out the social media trolls and hatred she faced all these months and still facing and said, “The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways in which women are re-victimised when they come forward. Further clarifying that her decision to settle isn’t admission. Now I finally have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to. I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward.”

She also expressed her huge grief against American law. She stated that her unprotected testimony has been mocked and trolled by public and used for entertainment purpose. Hence this made her lose all faith in the legal system.

At the very end of her post, Heard expressed her gratitude to her whole trial team for fighting for her till the end. She also thanked everyone whoever supported her through her tough times.

However, Heard did not explain her way of the settlement clearly.
