Aanand L. Rai builds a diverse library of films with his Colour Yellow Productions

Aanand L. Rai’s recent blockbuster hit, ‘Atrangi Re’ (2021), has only increased anticipation around his upcoming slate of films. The director has an interesting mix of movies on the horizon, including ‘An Action Hero’, ‘Gorkha’, ‘Good Luck Jerry’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’. While the director has successfully introduced commercial cinema to India’s small towns, his next few films will span across genres!

Here are some of his movies in which Aanand L. Rai is exploring fresh new genres!

Atrangi Re

Of course, we must mention his recent blockbuster! ‘Atrangi Re’ was a refreshing love story with a twist that tackled the subject of mental health. Featuring stellar performances by Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan, the film was a dream directorial venture by Aanand L. Rai. The film was a massive success and broke OTT records. Co-produced by Aanand L.Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, ‘Atrangi Re’s music album, composed by A. R. Rahman, also took the internet by storm.


Based on Major General, Ian Cardozo, the movie is going to be an action-based biopic. This will be the first time that the director will be venturing into this genre. Starring Akshay Kumar, the Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan directorial is set to kick off in the second half of 2022.

An Action Hero

This satirical comedy-action film went on floors in January 2022 with its first schedule in London. This Ayushmann Khurrana starrer is being co-produced by Colour Yellow Productions and T-Series. Fans are already expecting this movie to be full of impressive acting. Teasers released by the makers of the film have already piqued audience interest. The Anirudh Iyer directorial will also star Jaideep Ahlawat.

Good Luck Jerry

Yet another genre to the list of Colour Yellow Productions’ diverse plethora! ‘Good luck Jerry’ is a black-comedy crime film starring Janhvi Kapoor. While it is a remake of the Tamil film, ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’ (2018), the treatment given to the Hindi version sets it apart from the original. The film is directed by Sidharth Sengupta and also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Mita Vashisht, Neeraj Sood and Sushant Singh. Fans are awaiting the announcement of the film’s release date with bated breath.

Raksha Bandhan

A comedy drama starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, this film is being co-produced by Colour Yellow Productions, ZEE Studios and Cape of Good Films. Co-written by the writer couple Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, this film is also much anticipated by fans with its release date being 11th August 2022.
