It’s been almost a year and yet, Jada Pinkett Smith continues to get immense criticism thanks to her husband Will Smith’s slap incident at the Academy Awards 2022. Before Amber Heard, she was one of the most talked celebrities on social media for the occurrence.

For the unversed, ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ (2021) actress has been suffering from autoimmune disorder Alopecia since a very long time. In 2018, she came forward publicly and talked about her severe hair loss struggle with ‘Red Table Talk’, “I have been having issues with hair loss. It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my God am I going bald?’. It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear.”

Back then she received a lot of support from people. But after four years, when Jada’s husband Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on the stage in front of millions of people at the Academy Awards 2022 for joking about his wife’s baldness, she again made headlines for her illness and this time, she faced brickbats.

Now after a year, Jada has finally opened up about her coping up with the criticism throughout the year. Recently in an interview with The Guardian, when they asked her if she learned anything with the incident, she shared, “I learned a lot about detachment. And I learned a deeper beauty within myself, being able to let my hair go.”

Meanwhile, both Will Smith and Chris Rock have apologized to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with Will even getting suspended from attending Academy Award event for the next ten years.
