After seeing a hundred percent jump on day 3 of its nationwide release, a rare feat for an Indian film, Adivi Sesh’s ‘Major’, continues to surprise us with every passing day.

Proving to be a dark horse at the box office in its opening weekend, the film left Akshay Kumar’s ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ and Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ behind. Interestingly, ‘Major’s collections up North are significantly higher than ‘Vikram’.

Having garnered approximately 36 crores on the weekend, the Adivi Sesh starrer that left audiences across the country emotional and teary-eyed, passed the Monday test with flying colours. ‘Major’s Monday collections in Hindi were almost at par with the film’s Friday collections, whereas ‘Samrat Prithviraj’s collections dropped by sixty percent on Monday.

If the numbers prove anything, it’s that ‘Major’ is a clear favourite with audiences and an early indicator of how the film is expected to hold well and increase in the coming days.

Adivi Sesh has received unanimous praise for his nuanced and sensitive performance in the film, with several referring to it as a “Fitting tribute”, “Career’s finest” and “One deserving of a National Award”.
