The 94th Academy Awards Show held on March 28, 2022 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. It is one of the most celebrated Award ceremonies all over the world, where Hollywood’s finest stars descend the red carpet and earn the prestigious Oscar for their marvellous performances and works.

Considering one of the most eminent ceremonies, although very few lucky stars walk through the stage and win the golden Oscar, the others still hope to even get nominated for the Academy Awards and Will Smith became that one person among those lucky ones, to win the Oscar this year for his performance as Richard Williams in ‘King Richard’, released in 2021.

But then that tragic moment transpire, when the show host, renowned comedian, Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s being bald and for that Will Smith took to the stage and slapped Chris Rock all of a sudden in front of the theatre full of people. It seemed like Will Smith was quite disappointed with the joke and took the drastic step. Jada was also visibly annoyed as she rolled her eyes with sheer anger.

The scenario has made the whole world shocked and it is still one of the hottest news on social media currently. Although, the two stars, Will Smith and Chris Rock apologised to each other and to the audiences later on social media respectively, few days ago.

On April 1, Will Smith took a big step and resigned from the Academy and also declared that he would accept any punishment further, given by the organisation. A spokesperson of Will Smith issued a statement stated by him, “I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct. My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful and inexcusable.”

“I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film”, Smith further continued.
